Founded by Will Wright and Jeff Braun in 1987, Maxis is best known for its "Sim" games, starting with Simcity. The success of Simcity lead to many sequels and spinoffs. Eventually Maxis was acquired by EA in 1997. Their first major release with EA was The Sims, a groundbreaking and immensely popular game to this day.
