Founded in 1983 by Richard Garriott (aka Lord British), creator of the Ultima series of RPGs, including Ultima Online, one of the first MMORPGs. ORIGIN also developed and published other games such as the Wing Commander Series. The company was bought by Electronic Arts (EA) in 1992; Garriott left the company in 2000.
