Originally founded by Mark Pelczarski as MP Software (in 1978) and then Penguin Software, by 1986 it became known as Polarware. The company developed games in various genres (such as graphical adventure games, RPGs, and action titles) from Geneva, Illinois. In addition to DOS, they also developed games for the Apple II, Commodore 64, Amiga, and Atari systems. Many of their games, and a detailed history of the company, are now available on a compendium website by some of the original founders/authors since they have re-acquired the rights to their games.
