for the record, Battle Isle 3/2220 is Win 3.1 compatible... barely. It requires the WinG and Win32 libraries. I've been testing various installs of the program using a Win 3.x install within dosbox, but have not managed it yet. Seems to be a hang up in the way dosbox and WinG work together. That sai...

def. sounds like catacomb abyss. Like wolf3d and doom, the first volume was released as shareware and then 2 more were sold. A little trivia - there is a whole mess of catacomb games. Originally the id founders (carmack, romero, hall) made a game called Catacomb (1990), which was top down and played...

the non-legal torrents marked as english are presumably the sequel or mislabeled. *some one I know* tried one and it was in russian, despite being labeled as english ;) Basically though, the idea is to find it for the dos preservation project I am working on. So if the english version is not dos com...

It is possible that you played it on windows and had a low color driver installed, which would have dithered out the graphics. I don't remember if the game forced a high color mode or not. Or it could be due to the fact that the early levels actually don't have much color, in the sne, the color pale...

I have located a copy of the original game, and I have located a disc that claims to be an english copy of the original game. Both had windows installers. Installing the russian copy within virtualpc allowed me to extract the files from the disc. I was then able to copy the files back to my computer...

Upon running the installer ina sandbox environment, it appears the game may be the sequel. The art on the installer window matches that of the box of the sequel, even though the game files and listing were all named as if it was the first game. Are you aware of whether or not the original game is st...

Orda: Severnyi Veter / Horde: The Northern Wind
Mr. Flibble posted this game on mobygames and has the platform listed as DOS. However after searching high and low I finally came across a copy online and it is distinctly windows based (direct X, indeo redist., etc). So I figured I'd post here to try and find some extra info about this game and con...

After the run of 121 BBD issues, they ran a shortlived subscription called SoftWIN that specialized in utilities, apps, wallpapers, and games for Windows 3.x I have managed to track down about 10 of those discs. They do have a back issue browser on them that could be checked for these, however if th...

Rock-Slide [Solved]
I am currently seeking a game called Rock-Slide. A user who frequents these forums, Frenkel, posted screen shots of the game to mobygames. Here is a link to it: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/rock-slide All the googling I have tried has led me no-where on this one. ANy assistance would be greatly...
