You have several 16 mb videocards for a computer like that P133, a Nvidia TNT / TNT2, 3DFx VooDoo banshee, Voodoo 3, S3 Savage 16 mb, Matrox Millenium / Mystique, Ati Rage64, ATI Rage FX / Express / All-in-wonder, Rage64 etc. etc. all available as AGP and PCI. There are a lot of company's that build...

I'm also a lucky owner of the DB50XG. Soundblaster 16 + DB50XG board = perfect. Together with the SuperWave32 probably the best midi you can get. Damn, Doom sounds soooo good with that card. Don't have a GUS though, probably should get one for those good ol' Scream/Fast tracker days, and always nice...

Well, for me gameplay comes first, but graphics pretty important too, just like sound / music. For me DOS gaming is nostalgic too :-)

The memory is defenitly a problem 256 is low (with IM, Virus scanners and that kind of stuff in the background)

Nice

Looks good! Everything should go fine if you add 256 mb RAM, don't go with less then 512 MB. Don't go higher as 800x600 in Doom 3 and maybe tweak Half Life 2 / World of Warcraft a bit so you can run em on 1024x768 while keeping the FPS > 30 to 40. And don't turn on FSAA, it's a FPS killer on a 9600.

Although i can't remember a single 286 that didn't support 3,5" HD (my old 8088 had a 3,5" HD) i'm sure DD / HD 5,25" were supported. All this talk about 5,25", i'm considering building my own 5,25" drive back in my dos box :D Ps. Had niet verwacht hier ooit zuiderburen tege...

Pinball Games

I'm reading this forum for a small time now, i noticed that the side-scroller's are the games most talked about (and strategy maybe?)

Did everyone forget great pinball games like Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasy and Psyho Pinball etc?

(I loved Pinball Fantasy best btw, great music too).

As far as i know it should be possible. Even my XT (8088 10 mhz) had a 3,5" as second diskdrive. Don't forget that at the time even on 286 5,25" wasn't that strange.

Go for the Intel DX2. It's a better system for most of the old DOS gaming.

You can't connect IDE wires to the floppy drive, it uses a different interface. (The connectors of the floppy cable are smaller, not as wide), but i assue you made a typo (if not, watch out! So don't connect anything to the 5,25" if the other side of the cable goes to the harddisk or cd/dvd (it...

Maybe one of the first virtual pc releases?

Ontopic:

There are a few mac games related sites, but i doubt if you find it there (because of the 3.11 interface)

Cinema

Yeah, very happy with it, it doesn't support 320x200 though :D and my S3 doesn't have a DVI connector, so that's why i keep the Iiyama. And DOS games should be played on CRT, they look all blurry on tft hehe

The machine i build for dos games is a Pentium 200 MMX (slow enough to scale down and fast enough to play later DOS games) with a S3 Vision 864 card (2 mb) and a old SoundBlaster 16 with a Yamaha DB50-XG daughterbord for the wavetable connector (that's a must have with games with good midi music).

For video in my dos box i got a Miro 20SD (a graphic card based on S3 Vision 864) with 2 mb ram. This is a good card and i haven't found a single game that doesn't support it (Including 7th guest). For sound i have a really old Sound Blaster 16, ISA, with jumpers etc. It also has a wavetable connect...
