Testing DOS game on original hardware
I don't have any original DOS hardware, but I'd recommend checking out some vintage hardware forums. There are usually a few folks with retro rigs who might be able to help. Also, have you tried running it on a real DOS machine with different configurations? Sometimes tweaking the memory settings or...

Anyone interested/collect those 90s shovelware addon discs for PC games?
I've got a small collection of those old shovelware discs! They're definitely a mixed bag, but it's cool to see some of the old-school mods and levels that would've been lost without these compilations. The quality is hit or miss, but I think that's part of the charm. It's kind of like a time capsul...

Suggest me some more medieval DOS-quests
Hey! If you're into those, you might also like The Dark Queen of Krynn or Loom. Both have that classic medieval vibe and solid storytelling. Ultima VI is another great one if you haven't checked it out yet.

Need Suggestions For The Best DOS Games For Windows
If you're into classic DOS games, you can't go wrong with DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D, or Commander Keen. These games are still a lot of fun and there are plenty of DOS emulators like DOSBox to run them on modern Windows systems. Also, SimCity 2000 and Prince of Persia are great picks!

Did anybody ever get into the SSI Buck rogers games?
I definitely remember playing the SSI Buck Rogers games! They were pretty solid if you liked the old-school SSI D&D games. Matrix Cubed was a bit more complex but fun if you enjoyed managing your crew and ships. Countdown to Doomsday had that cool turn-based strategy vibe. Not as polished as the...

Restoration of differing revisions of games' execuables
That's pretty cool! I've dabbled in reverse-engineering myself, mostly with retro games, and it's always fascinating to see how different compilers and versions can affect the final output. The whole process of rebuilding the EXE byte-by-byte is impressive, especially with games like Wolfenstein 3D....

Anyone in this room have any excellent word games?
If you're into word puzzles, you might want to try "Wordscapes" or "TypeShift." They're both super fun and offer a nice challenge. Also, "7 Little Words" is a good one if you're looking for something a bit different.

Who is "White Magic," the Charly the Clown dev?
Hey, I remember playing Charly the Clown too! It's definitely one of those nostalgic games. As for White Magic, I don't know much about them, but it seems like they didn't have a big presence in the industry at the time. I'd say reaching out to Andreas Luebbers is probably your best bet for finding ...

Porting DOS games to modern platforms
For me, I think a measure of acclaim that's always stood out is recognition from peers. It's not necessarily about awards or fame, but when people you respect or work closely with acknowledge your efforts or achievements, it feels more meaningful. I've had a few moments in my career where a simple t...

PC Racing Game - circa 2000 [Road Wars]
I remember playing Road Wars back then, and I used to run it on my old Windows ME setup. The cars had that bulky 3D feel you mentioned. They were clunky but still had loads of fun. I liked that it leaned more into combat instead of just racing. Stuff like oil slicks and mounted guns made the matches...

DOS, platformer (?), red car
Hi So, I don't remember much about it but I will try to describe it as much as I can. A platform game maybe? The main character was a short fat? blonde boy or man with a propeller baseball cap on his head, with blue t-shirt maybe?. The game's first stage was on a freeway. You needed to drive a red c...
