CTRL-ALT-F5 Start/Stop creating a movie of the screen. (avi video capturing)

You can choose where the *.avi file will be stored in dosbox conf file under header [dosbox]
captures=x:\path\folder\
Dosbox restart needed after altering the conf file.

x:\path\folder must be existing and dosbox must of course have read/write rights in the folder.

As you're on Vista 64 bit I will suppose you're compy can handle it (or it should ...)
As folder I would suggest you create this capture folder:
C:\users\brenton\capture\

Keep in mind that you will ask some extra effort from your CPU/system, so close what's running on the background and isn't really needed.

Don't forget to let us know what the results are......
Alright, i'll try. XD

EDIT: It didn't end up in the directory you said it would be in and with what I know I input the directory details into the options but it ended somewhere else but I don't mind since now I got the video recorded and that's all that matters to me and you can see it here now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avxnPhWiA6w XD Thanks once again! ^^ Even though it is a bit laggy at the end I can figure that out some other time, truly. XP I'm just glad I got it on a vid so thanks again. :D

Looks pretty good, BTW, did you mount the CD or an ISO image? Uually it lags less running from an ISO.

kknd 1.2 patch

Post by newkknduser »

Hi, I have kknd running under dosbox, but now I am looking
for the 1.2 patch. So far all the sites that have the patch are
dead or want money. Does anyone have the patch or a link
to a site that has the download? Thanks.

Patches scrolls has KKND update 1.2
http://www.patches-scrolls.de/
Use "destroy" in the search field.

Thank you for the patch location

Thank you!

I had looked there, but didn't see kknd or Krush Kill n Destroy
in the game index. I had not thought to use the site search
engine. Again, thank you.

As you have the CD creating a valid ISO from it is only a matter of using a compliant applic to create a new ISO.
The one I usually use for that purpose:
http://www.imgburn.com/
Never failed me till now, freeware and a damn good applic.

Try it, you will see that a CD game works much better ran from an ISO with imgmount under dosbox.
After all, modern hardware isn't really suited to run those old CD games, the older 2-4-6x speed CD drives didn't had to spin down/up the whole time, contrary to moderner ones.
...and the heat, those modern drives heat up a lot.

Or: Must be for another version of the game.(some editors are written for a specific version)
Or there is somewhere an *.ini or *.con file with wrong path settings.
Or you screwed up somewhere ....?

Hi there.! first off, i should compliment you guys on the amazing job youre doing here. i only recently discovered this site, so im basicly overjoyed ;)

Anyways, im trying to get KKND to work on my old xp machine. I have the old cd myself, so im gonna try it out, before mixing in an image file, to speed up the performance. This far im having problems with getting further than the intro.
It simply shuts down... without any form of error message.?
Ive tried both speeding up the cpu cycles and slowing them, but from here on, i have no clue.?

Ive done exactly what is said in the guide here, and its been working without probs

Im anxiously waiting for a reply :)

Hello again :)

So it seems asking for help, fixed my problem on its own. Im now facing a new problem however...
I can only play the game in Multiplayer mode.. I have no idea why this is so.? im guessing its becourse 1. my installation is corrupted, or 2. it just doesnt acknowledge the cd anymore.? so ive tried going through it all once more, without any luck.. and well i just dont think the 2nd option is and option anymore

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

Only multiplay??? Heheh, that's a new one !
Snitbandit wrote:Any help would be much appreciated! :)
Of course, but we will need some details from you:
Original CD? Downloaded?
OS?
Mount lines?
Install choices?
How do you run the game?
Do you use the same mount lines when running as for the install?
Did you alter anything in dosbox.conf?
Did you try to multiplay by any chance?

And maybe some more questions ......

That was a fast reply! thanks ;)

Well, first off im an original cd. As stated before im going to use an image when the game is running smoothly.
As for the mount lines, ive been running everything exactly as your guide states, so i end up with having mounted c:\oldgames\. When i run the game i do so by either just running cd kknd and KKND, or by mounting d d:\ d: cd KKND then KKND
By going by the first way running the game via c:\ it goes straight to the play menu, with everything blocked except multiplayer and quit game. By running the second way, it runs through the into, and eventually ends up with the same result. When trying out multiplayer, you only get the option to go either serial connection or modem. I havent been any further than that since i cant create a game without anyone else joining.

Ive altered only a few things in the dosbox options. Im running version 0.74. Ill copy paste the things ive altered:

fullresolution=fixed size (1280x1024)
windowresolution=original

core=dynamic
cputype=auto
cycles=max
cycleup=10
cycledown=20

mount c c:\oldgames
c:

Since the multiplayer option IPX is blocked aswell, i will just copy a few more things from dosbox.conf, only for you to see what the standard settings are, from my installation. (note that i have not altered the following)

serial1=dummy
serial2=dummy
serial3=disabled
serial4=disabled

[ipx]
# ipx: Enable ipx over UDP/IP emulation.

ipx=false

As i stated before, i have run everything through your guide, except the altering of screensize and the cpu cycles.

Again thanks for the fast reply, you surprised me there ;)

Something here makes no sense at all ...
I get that first mount line, but what's that mount d d:\ ????

I am able to mount D:\ Which is my cd drive. Meaning i can run the game through both c:\oldgames\ and through the cd D:\

Ah so.

Do this:
-> delete you KKND folder on \oldgames\ (in Win here, dosbox closed)
-> Run dosbox and mount your CD drive correctly as D:
mount d d:\ -t cdrom
-> install game in dosbox as described@ http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11834
-> run game from c:

Should work now.

Not 100% sure you need to delete/reinstall, but can avoid trubbles ......
