Big Bonus CD ROM???

Post by dorkykatie »

I had this cd-rom in the early 90's and remember a few games that were on it.
The Settlers
Jill if the Jungle
Blake Stone
Doom
Monster Bash
Jazz Jackrabbit
and a ton more. Did anyone else have this disk and remember the names of more games? There was one that was from Peter Pan and you had to build Wendy a house of sticks I think?

Man, man o manometer ....
There were thousands if not ten thousands such compilation CDs ....
Filled with shareware, tryware, demo, freeware stuffs.

In those days it was cheaper to buy such CD as much peeps were on dial up, not to mention dial up wasn't really reliable when it came to downloading large files.
Also every PC related magazine had some 'cover' CD.

What I mean:
It will be sheer luck if someone remember this specific 'big bonus CD'.

You always can try to find it @

Or take a look @

As for your 'Peter Pan' game, sounds as Peter Pan, a story painting adventure.

Good luck.

Oh god yes, I remember this. And have been searching for it for years now.

I think it was called Big Bonus, then with the year 2000 printed below. The games I remember from it was that Peter pan game, also a sort of tower-defenders type game within the peter pan genre, where you sort of have to build a path through for your minion dudes. Also there was 'Zed' where you're this crazy scientist or something and you have a gun and have to get through this trippy world full of acid pools.

To this day I still search for it...

eBay lists a CD called The Big Bonus Family Activities. Unfortunately, no image is provided by the seller.

Interestingly I have been looking for this one a couple of years now as well to dig up some childhood memories. When I was a kid, my cousin had it and back in the day I thought it was really cool. I thought the sidescrolling shooter was called Zeb. I was really annoyed at the fact that no matter how much digging, I couldn't fine any of the games on the web anywhere, and I can't remember the names of most of the ones I liked best.

Does anyone remember sidescrolling cave adventure game where the guy you play has to rescue a girl or something? I vividly remember that you had to collect candles to stay alive and sometimes you would dive underwater too. Every time you took a hit, there was this distinctive "Oh-o!" sound effect. Best I can remember it was called the great adventure of something.

Yeah I remember this disk, and that game was called The adventures of Tom Sawyer or something like that.

I still have the big bonus CD. if anyone really wants it i could try to make some copies of the cd or look into sharing the files on it? 'provided its legal?' since it is a relic and probably incompatible with newer pc's lol.

Zeb was my favourite, then Jazz Jack, then the Tom Sawyer adventure game thing..

If you look on youtube you can find Jazz Jack games.

Well, you could start by making an index of the CD's contents, it should be legal if there are only shareware versions on it (but sometimes those shovelware CDs contain illegal items anyway).

Archive.org's Shareware CD Archive doesn't seem to have it, so of you make an image of your CD and upload it there (provided that it indeed is legal) then probably it'd be a good thing.

As for potential "incompatibility with new PCs", the only possible problem is that the disc might have become unreadable because of its age.

luckily i still have a PC with an optical drive, only just got a Win8 UltBook. Next week ill be home, dig out the disk and see if its still working. I also have other old game disks that might not be archived yet.

Thanks for your advice, i do hope the games are still compatible and readable.

Compatibility:
dosgames -> dosbox
W9xgames -> VPC

Readability ...? Depends, creating an ISO shouldn't be a problem if the disks aren't scratched.

If you have the time and the possibilities to upload large files, that would be awesome :)

If you have many of those, you might also try contacting Jason Scott or Hallfiry, they will probably be interested in some of your stuff. Especially if you have some old computer and\or gaming magazine cover CDs :)
