MacDOS6.22 bencher by developertn
God!hehe
Okay, today we have something special. As a background, I managed to set up authentic MS-DOS 6.22 on my MacBook Pro 2009 model. The funny thing is that after all the virtual environments have been set up, it went from 5ghz down to 1mhz hehe Even wierder than that is that maxing out MacDOS6.22 which is a term I created still only yeilded 1mhz. Anyways, I created my own bench mark. This is the 2nd version that I made. You press the 'P' key to pause. So I benched DOSBox 0.74 at about 18000 after 1 minute. I benched MacDOS6.22 at about 1800 after 1 minute. So if DOSBox 0.74 set to 3000 cycles is supposed to be close to DOS then I am way under hehe See if you can bench your own and see where you stand. Is DOSBox 0.74 really standard across all systems? Let me know what your results are. I counted to the seconds. So the number is actually closer to 17000 and 1500 respectively.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/vi8qs ... 2NDDAY.OBJ
http://www.mediafire.com/download/x80m4 ... 2NDDAY.EXE
So the conclusion is I can't run Heroes of Might and Magic because my system only has less than or 1MHZ hehe
Thank you Jesus Christ I am the humblest aspiring developertn!

God makes me honour both my real parents:
Real dad: Nguyen Binh Thuy
Real mom: Huong Thi Vu
Real cousin: Carl Anh Cuong Cao Vu
Thank you to WWW.DOSGAMES.COM for allowing me the priviledges to produce games on this websites.
Anyways, here is my official speed for my version of DOS and DOSBox.
DOS: 1518
DOSBox: 17747
*Method of speed determination:
Look at the seconds.
When it reaches 0, run "2ndDay.exe".
When the seconds reach 59, press the letter P
Memorize your count displayed.
Post the count result like I have above.

Thank you God for this updated bencher. Please only quit if you seem to be stuck for over 5 minutes. It should end by itself within 12 minutes. This version of clocker automatically detects the computer time and counts. When it ends it will show what your system is able to achieve. I have tested it on Mac and Windows XP. Both versions of DOSBox consistently showed about the same numbers.

Deuteronomy 6:5
In this edition of my clocker, I have used a bit of complex mathematical computation to estimate the values even if you quit early.
I just wanted to make this a special day for my mom. My real mom is Huong Thi Vu. She is always there for me ever since I was just a little kid. So really I wish I could somehow make her proud of me!
In any case, the best I can do is keep working and studying to be the best I can be as a developertn.

The cool thing about this version of my clocker is that it will tell you how far off it "thinks" you are from MS-DOS speed hehe
Well it is just an estimated value based upon DOSBox readings!
However if you use it on an actual DOS machine you might be surprise? hehe

The above clocker will NOT work if the speed is so fast that it automatically produces a result in less than 2 seconds!
The above clocker will ALSO NOT WORK if the speed of the computer is so slow that it takes over 58 seconds to produce a result!!!

After running my latest clocker you can see in this screen shot that my MS-DOS on a Mac is able to run Quake here really well:
Believe it or not this is within Snow Leopard where VirtualBox has XP then DOS

For what I can tell this is authentic MS-DOS 6.22 within Microsoft Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 (32-bit). The MS-DOS 6.22 has been installed within VirtualBox.
Thank you God for my two real parents!
Bless Jesus for saving all of us.
Then bless my real mom Huong Thi Vu.
Honour to my real dad Nguyen Binh Thuy.

As you can all see, you can get VirtualBox to go down to about 4.77 MHz.
From my research the original 8086 chip for MS-DOS runs at 4.77 MHz.
Although about 4.2 MHz if not 4.77 MHz it is very close.
These days true MS-DOS running on true old fashioned hardware is rare.
So the next best thing is to approximate it with VirtualBox.
I cannot believe how slow 4.2 or so MHz feels.
I am happy now at last for the rest of my life!
For the first time in my life I have achieved close to true MS-DOS hardware.
What is important to me is that it is running actual MS-DOS.

The truth is 4.77 MHz is too slow for me to produce on a daily basis.
I tried and had to stop after several hours with only a tiny number of lines.hehe
