When I try to load, it reports a missin' file and I can't conficure it to use Sound Blaster, just to (dis)able mouse.

Is there a reason why you posted this in Find Old Games? Should I move it to Get Games to Work?

If you're using the shareware version, Sound Blaster support might not be included at all, just like the 640x400 graphics mode.

Before I attempt to answer this question, where did you get the game? Is that the full version or shareware? Are you running on real hardware?

Well then it looks like it could be something with your hardware configuration because the shareware version does not have such errors in DOSBox, it runs fine and does not complain about missing files whatsoever from what I can tell.

But, in DOSBox the setup programme does not allow me to select sound devices, so I'm supposing that these might not be supported at all in the shareware release.

You haven't even specified which file the game reports as missing.
