Here's my poll on CPU brands. I like Intel because they invented the x86 CPU line. AMD and the others are copycats.

An explanation about the other brands:
NEC, Hitachi, and maybe about a dozen others made 8088/8086 clones. I heard that Intel's factory was too slow in the old time so they subcontracted the CPU design to those guys.
In the 486 generation and earlier, IBM made some CPUs for their own systems. Also, NexGen made some Pentium 1 clones. After the Pentium 1, the pie was pretty much divided in two, Intel and AMD.
