Descent

Post by coldmystery »

So I love the game descent. I saw you guys had the demo, so I got it and was like ooober happy, one problem. The mouse action blows, When i was a kid it was fine, when I turn left to right, or pivot up and down with the keyboard it is perfect. But using the mouse dfoesnt barely work. Now I had a similar problem about two years ago too. Any suggestions?

Mouse + Descent = Ugh. Joystick + Descent = Orgasmic. Found that out the hard way.

Mouse is exceptionally good in classic first person shooters, but Descent physics and controls are very different. There's no way to stick a mouse there and make it usable. Even keyboard only is better. A joystick is, of course, the way to go.

when I was in grade 4 I had the 15 level demo (came with my computer). I learned to use the keyboard then. I still kinda remember my (horribly) keyboard setup too..

1-4 (weapons)

q = primary
w = secondary
e = flare
r = mine
t = nose down
y = nose up
u = tilt left
i = tilt right

a = accellerate
z = breaks

f = turn left
j = turn right

up = y-axis up (upward strafe?)
down = y-axis down (downard strafe?)
left = strafe left
right = strafe right

that's all I can remember, but those were all I really used. IMHO, the soundtrack was always better than the game ;)

I've always used the keyboard. I've ahd Descent as long as I can remember. I bought Descent 2 a few years ago on CD, and I set it up with the same keyboard controls. They're strangely similar to Rochard's. I bought Descent 3 a while ago and use almost the same. I've always had a problem with Joysticks.
Lack of iron and/or sleeping.
