Hi. First time poster here.
I've looked through this forum and it seems you guys have a lot of knowledge on old games and DOS, so maybe you can help me with this.
Almost all of the old DOS games I try to run stops with the first step:
The Command Prompt.
My system is:
Pentium 3 500Mhz
512MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP2
Graphics Card: Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 TV-Out
Sound Card: Turtle Beach Montego II
My problem is this:
When I start Command Prompt in windowed mode, it works perfectly.
But when I switch to full screen, my screen becomes distorted.
I know this is because of my graphics card, because it has never been able to support full screen resolutions below 640x480.
I've got the latest drivers installed, I've checked the manufacturer's homepage for possible fixes to this,
I also have VDMSound installed and I've tried DOSBox.
But, again, the problem is the "conflict" between my graphics card and the 320x240 screen resolution almost all DOS games use.
I haven't got the money to buy a new graphics card, or an old one for that matter.
I really want to play Tie Fighter, for instance, but when I run the install program, it switches to full screen, and my screen is screwed up.
If anyone could help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
