I already tried dosbox and I couldn't get the speed of the game to sync with the speed of the sound. However, I am able to get each one to full speed, but when one if full speed, the other isn't.

I have recently downloaded the full version of Tyrian 2000 onto my PC, as this particular game holds a lot of nostalgia for me ahh the good old days...

Well the only problem I am having is the sound for some reason it will not recognise my sound card which is a Soundblaster live 5.1 card.

I am running the game under Windows XP, it is not the Dos version of the game, although I have that and can run it througfh dosbox without any severe problems accept for the speed which is considerably slower under dosbox, so I am trying to opt for the newer version as this is extremely better in looks and speed.

Is there anybody out there who could help me find a patch that will sort out the compatability issue with my soundblaster live card.

All you need to do is use the program compatibility wizard in XP and then set it to windows 98 mode and make sure that 640x480 is checked and so is 256 colors, that works fine on my machine.

Hi all

I have been playing with Tyrian 2000 as my little brother loves this game to bits and used to play it when he was real tiny. Been trying to get it working for him.

So far by using Dosbox I have got it working with the Sound Effects but the speed seems very erratic on the first level especially.

It seems to be when the little white fluffy clouds are on screen that the game slows down. I then go to increase the speed within dosbox and when the clouds vanish it goes turbo. Any ideas? PC spec is below.

P4 3.0GHz
Win XP Home
512 MB RAM
Radeon 9200
80 GB HD

You should change dosbox.conf file so that

the cpu cycles are at 10000

or
cpu cycles=10000

I have the same problems guys, i dont know wtf is wrong with tyrian, man it runs nicely with sounds and all but the speed, the speed on the game, the game is to sloooow, there has to be a way to fix this shit, please help.

BTW: we are 3 years further now, dosbox is at version 0.72.
Jazz and Tyrian run swell in it.
