Alone In The Dark 1 - moving around

Post by CatWoman55 »

Yesterday I downloaded Alone in the Dark by Interplay, 1992 from the dosgames.com site and also got the game running (VDMS).

Yet, navigating the shaking woman around seems a bit uncomfortable and reminds me a lot of KQ8 (which in fact is the only game in the KQ series I never liked).

Anyway, now I have the game and would like to play. But whenever I try to move Ms. Shaky to the closet to push it in front of the window, the beast sneaks in and kills her. Probably I am not fast enough and stand in the wrong spot.

Question now: where do I have to move the girl so I get the command options (where it says open, push, pull etc.).

Any hints?

Thanks.

Thanks. Been through all that, but not much of a help regarding controls. Maybe I should not be so impatient and practice a bit?

Nah, I gave up on DOSBox. Either I am too stupid to handle it right, or it doesn't like my computer. VDMS is great for nearly all my DOS games.

VDMS has EMS control as well, that's not the problem.

And as I said, I get the game running, just don't like the way it has to be controlled.
