Keen 6 help

I am at the second level in keen 6, "Guard Post One". I have no problems completing the level. But when I open the door that requires the green keygem, I find a switch. I turn it on, but I can't find what change it did. Do anyone knows what the switch behind the green-keyhole door is for?

This level? It's probably for some platform to go up and down.
