Old old game.. Don't remember what it's called!

Okay.. soo back when I use to play lemmings and watch my dad play doom 1, lol, there was this game that I played, i'm pretty sure it was as 3D as you could get at the time. It was kind of like a maze game, you had this guy you played and you moved around these hall ways with the arrow keys like a maze and you could pick up a key or somthing to open certain doors and the objective was to get out of the maze like room.. You could also make your own room, like put walls in or a stair case in with doors and keys. And you could test run it with your character to see if it worked... Does anyone have an idea? XD

Also you could like be outside and you'd be staring at a castle like place. That is where you would go inside and it would become the maze like area.

Did you have any weapons, or could you acquire any througout the game at any point? How about any other items? If so what were they besides what you already said such as keys.
