Ricky Raccoon: Adventures in Math (sp?) *SOLVED*
Hello,
I've been trying to find this game for years, I played it when I was about 5 (1989).
It is an old shareware edutainment game for DOS obtained from BBS back in the day. The music theme of the animation where Ricky Raccoon gets closer to the club treehouse after each successful solving of a math speed-test was the William Tell Overture. It also had a few other side-games I believe, but the main part of the game was the math speed tests including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Any information as to where I could obtain this game would be immensely appreciated!

I spent some time searching around ... there's two possibilities I came up with but both are sort of long shots ...
1) Adventures in Math for the Amiga
This one is by "Free Spirit Software":

I don't see a raccoon mentioned anywhere though. You should be able to tell in about 2 seconds from the screenshots if that's it or not.
2) Mental Math Games for the PC
The review for this game located here (only available in Google's cache):
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:Ph ... i_13375056
Mentions:
"The problems are rote memorization type stuff, but she does them so she can keep the mouse out of the traps and direct him to cheese, or move a cute little animated raccoon named Rodney through an adventure, or win the giant stuffed dinosaur in an arcade."
So that's somewhat of a possibility ... there WAS a copy available on eBay but the auction has ended:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0186693580
Couldn't find much more info about this one that isn't in that review URL.
Perhaps one of those is it??? Anything else you can tell us about the game? (I see you've been posting on a bunch of sites, so we wanna help you find this if possible

Thanks a bunch! Mental Math Games looks like a good candidate, and I do remember that there were other math minigames with the game I played... I'll look into it further. There aren't too many games out there that have raccoons in them.emmzee wrote:I spent some time searching around ... there's two possibilities I came up with but both are sort of long shots ...

Edit: I just sent off an email to Waterford, here's hoping for a reply.

Awesome! Glad to help.

All done beating the game, but it still has the same glitch it had 15 years ago, keeping me from getting inside the treehouse.
Hacking the save files doesn't help at all unfortunately, perhaps the counting mechanism is messed up. I'll have to try hacking the game itself.

I'm going to have to get that game off you sometime I'm thinking, that video is awesome.
Now I can understand why you were so desperate to find it.

Heh, yeah, I was just hoping to figure out a way to do a recording of adlib midi outside the game without stuttering. After all, I can see which drivers the game uses since it loads them at startup... can't I use those same drivers with an external but still dos-based player?
I uploaded the one I have for now though even though it's at a longer and possibly incorrect length, though the sound and video match up finally.
