Warcraft II
WC2 does not recognize that there's a CD in my drive...
I'm not sure if this might be the same issue other people are having, but I'm running on vista, have everything setup correctly (or so I think):
mount c c:\users\your_name\dosgames (where my games reside)
mount d e:\ -t cdrom (where e:\ is my cd rom drive)
and I install it through DOSBox and have no problems, but when I run the game it says there's no CD in the drive.
Any ideas?

First steps:
Shut down all that's running on the background and isn't really needed.
Includes all gadgets, internet conn, whatever and whatnots.
Further things to try:
Look in dosboxconf (open with notepad) and try different settings for output.
This can sometimes really speed things up.
BTW, what are your CPU settings in dosboxconf?
And what are your choices for music/sound in the game config?

problem solved
Thanks a lot mate! But I already sorted it out. The problem was that the DOSBox was taking tons of time to get the info from the CD, so i just copied the cd´s folders to my c, mounted that folder as a cd drive and it is running really good now! REMEMBER PPL OUT THERE IF U WANT UR GAME TO RUN FREELY DONT USE THE CD. Heres what i do to play:
mount c c:\games\war2
mount d c:\WARCRAFT2 -t cdrom
c:
war2
mount c c:\games\war2
mount d c:\WARCRAFT2 -t cdrom
c:
war2
Bad bad bad bad .....
Can't you read the stickies?
Even if it works for Warcraft2 it won't work for most games.
Create a BIN/CUE from the CD.
Mount that BIN/CUE as CDDrive D:
imgmount D x:\folder\wc2.cue -t iso
x:\folder\wc2.cue => correct path/name of CD image
Much better.

Warcraft II dosbox issues...
Before I say anything I'll go ahead and give you some info, seeing as thats the thing you seem to want the most
Windows Vista Home.
Dosbox version .73
No CD, just files.
Located in c:\games\warcraft2
Anything else?
Also, I have used BOSbox to play Warcraft I and I attempted to copy the way I did it for Warcraft II... but to my surprise it did not work.
Any and all help would be most appreciated.

Re: Warcraft II dosbox issues...
Why don't you ask where you downloaded the game?xane wrote: No CD, just files.
I have no idea how they ripped the version you have.
Or search for a CD image to download, or you could buy the game.

Re: Warcraft II dosbox issues...
Hm, you may be on to something... That might explain why the game isn't working...
Thanks, I'll look into it.

I made a c:/ folder called warcraft2, and successfully mounted it as was shown on this thread.dosraider wrote:http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5443
Your mount is wrong.
You need a c:\games
Your inputs:
mount c c:\games
c:
cd WCR2
war
Means you must install Warcraft through dosbox in c:\wcr2
(Windows path is c:\games\wcr2)
Run setup FIRSTin dosbox.
Setup:
Digital SBPro -> auto set -> test -> ok
Music SB PRO2 -> auto set -> test -> ok
Save and exit.
If the game lags in dosbox, rerun setup and disable music card.
mount c c:/warcraft 2
Drive C is mounted as local directory c:/warcraft2\
c:
cd wcr2
Unable to change to: wcr2
I can't seem to get past this. What's the problem here?

First step, read and apply this:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10437
Next copy your all that's in your c;\warcraft2\ folder in
c:\users\your name\oldgames\wcr2\
Remark: NOT warcraft2.
Run dosbox, and if you followed the instructions you will be able to do a
cd wcr2
war
Again:
NOT warcraft2

got my prompt to read, "C:\WCR2>"
when I type: war, I get an Illegal Command message though.
How do I install the game from the disc though?

I didn't download the game. I have an original disk.dosraider wrote:As you downloaded the game, was it a CD image or just some files?
*edit
The file destination is: C:\Users\my name\oldgames\WAR2
I had originally copied the files and folders on the cdrom and put them in a folder called wcr2 which was in oldgames. When I installed the game, a new folder, WAR2, appeared inside oldgames too. I'm not sure if this has something to do with my comp not recognizing the CD when it's in the machine.
