What I really appreciate in VLC media player is that contrary to WMP it doesn't keep endless records of what I've been watching in the Win registry.
It's small, fast and reliable, and plays everything (or almost) you throw on it.
WMP has a nasty habit (as more Win progs) of polluting his own reg entries, and never cleans up his garbage.
WMP is also too big for my taste, it has become a suite, filled with for me completely useless gadgets.
But as usual, each his own, and we're all happy at the end.

I love VLC because it plays videos in full screen. Quicktime (and the Flip4Mac plug in that allows QT to run WMVs) must be upgraded to QT Pro to get that feature. That is the biggest rip-off ever. Hell, movies that you play in iTunes can go full screen as well.
Anyhoo, this game is really hard.
