???. They just burned anyone at the stake, just because of there religion? Would the Church go out and burn a King at the stake, because he didn't believe everything the Church believed?

Yes. The Pope had more power than the King, so he was usually just a puppet of the church anyway...

(Recall the protestent barbeque queen "Bloody" Mary was having a couple centuries back)

I said a King, not the King. Would they burn any king?

(Psssst! "The King would be a general reference to any European King in power, sir)

They would burn 'im if one didn't obey the church. This "Obedience" would include sending money to the church, giving church athorities power in the government, burning heretics, enforcing laws that "the Church" imposed, etc. Of course, since the church appointed the King anyway, it didn't happend very often.

Sorry to butt into such a heated discussion, I just wanted somebody to know something.
Dogbreath wrote:I deleted the Elftor comments… they were unnecessary and cruel.
Well, I don't know which one TD linked to (I didn't look), but Efftor comics are like all comics: some are funny, some are just plain stupid, and some are too controversial for their own good. Elftor is more like South Park than Bugs Bunny, though, when comparing comics to cartoons.

Okay, carry on.

This piticular one was mocking Christians and referring to them in deregitory terms. If it was non-offencive, I would have allowed it.

Thunderdog: You need to 1. at least have some respect for my faith like Unknown K does, or 2. shut the fuck up.

Naw. I would prefer 3.: I kill you.

So you would resort to murdering a person because he doesn't follow your faith and wouldn't be bullied into silence by you? Sorry, sir, this has already been done. (Crusades/Jihads/Middle East terrorism)

TD, your just digging a bigger ditch to fall in. What's with the "kill everyone", thing?

Trolling, most likely.

troll1 (trl)
v. trolled, troll·ing, trolls
v. tr.

1.
a. To fish for by trailing a baited line from behind a slowly moving boat.

Wheras, his remarks are the bait and we accept it if we flame him. He's attempting to make us react. It isn't tolerated here so I've been deleting most of his offencive posts.

Either that or he really does wish to murder people because of their beliefs... in which case, threatening users isn't tolerated either.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't it spelled "offensive"? That's how I always saw it spelled.

Edit: Yes, though at the moment I am thinking of a word spelled T-E-C-H-N-O-C-R-A-T. -Ze Mighty Man of Foul Canine Oral Excretions

What's funny is that the crusades were the biggest waste of time ever. Absoulty nothing was accomplished.

It drastically lowered the population of the Middle East and raised the average IQ of Europe's population so it wasn't a total loss...
