(I found a weird option under compatibility in xp properties and it has something to do with slowing down the cpu. Checking it helps a bit.. A BIT.. but not by much..)

http://tyrian2000.cjb.net has a lot of tyrian things. I think it SHOULD have a fix for that. As for getting tyrian 2000... give me a second.... isn't that game retail still? If you really want it that bad go to e-bay and get it ok? Original Tyrian is freeware and you can get it at the above site.

Jazz Jackrabbit doesn't work well on Win XP either.. same reason perhaps? I have the shareware and would like the full version with all. I cannot find on e-bay or amazon, maybe you will have more luck?

On the command prompt, type:

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

then press Enter. Run Jazz setup and select Sound Blaster Clone.

If that doesn't help, let me know.

Isn't that sound card specific?

If you have a weird soundcard... (like my als 100, als 120) it won't always work. Also I have a Sblaster Pro and it doesn't work because of other hardware on my computer.. (I accidentally put the bios in backwards and it burnt up a bit... &-) ) so my soundcard lets up every now and then.
Maybe the IRQ DMA is dif.

It's fairly common settings. Yes, some of those numbers can be different.

I'll try to explain

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H1 P330 T6

SET BLASTER is always used, no matter what brand or model of soundcard you have.
A220 - About 99.999% chance A220 is for you
I5 - Mostly I5, sometimes I7. Those two are common for most
D1 - Mostly D1, maybe D0 or D3, very rarely anything else
H1 - That number might not be right for you
P330 - Most people use P330
T6 - Can be T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9. This setting usually doesn't make much difference anyway.

Do you know the exact brand and model of your soundcard? If not, keep changing the numbers until the sound works (trial and error).

You need to use TPPatch, then use Dosbox to emulate Jazz.

Put TPPATCH.EXE in the same directory as Jazz, then type TPPATCH JAZZ.EXE and press Enter.

Yes, it should work for the full version of Jazz (or any version for that matter).

I am having an error very simmilar to the one fixable by the TPpatch but is diffrent. The error that TP fixes has the same error code (200) but it is in a diffrent place. I think this is why the TPpatch wont work, any ideas would be great.

TPPatch generally only works with runtime errors. Was that a runtime error? If not, tell us the exact error code and we might be able to help.

I got it to run using a diffrent patch but there is no audio, (other patch at http://www.kennedysoftware.ie/patchcrt.htm ) the error code was "Runtime error 200 at 0006:374C." the other patch seemed to fix that error but there is no audio at all. When running the setup i got the "unable to play sound FX" error but thats nothing new its strange that there is no music. No errors either.

So sound is your only problem now. I'm pretty sure that this is unrelated to runtime errors.

OK, for sound, are you trying to run this game in pure DOS mode or Windows? Also tell us which version of Windows you use. And if you know, tell us your kind of sound card.

While you're at it, if you can find out, tell us a bit about your computer (CPU, RAM, etc.)

Im running the game in windows but i hace the program set so that it doesnt detect windows running. I havnt tryed running it in pure dos yet but i will by sat.

Its a P3 770MHz
128 mb of ram
64mb nVidia card
on board sound
Windows ME (like 98 but more bugs)

Perhaps your sound card is not compatible with legacy Sound Blaster standards. In Jazz setup, did you try many options. If neither of the options work, I guess you'll have to play in silence.

I tried under 2 vertions of pure dos with no luck.

i think my (onboard) audio isnt compatable, I might go out and grab a cheap old audio card.

Thanks for the help

I'm trying to get Tyrian 2000 to work on my win 98 system. Though, i never seem to have the same problem as everyone else... i have a runtime error, but it is error 005. Anyone know what this is?
