Hmm sounds bad that it would be hard to remove spyware etc. [BUT] If you don't play online there's no need to wory about spywere programs because you don't have to use it. I guess 90 % play online so there is still a BIG problem if it is correct information that you have The_Sinister_Mastermind. I will try to surch after more information too. Maybe we could work it out. B)

H_V uses Starforce protection. By now considered by many as very close to being malware/spyware.

I have to say that t'll now I only once had to deal with a malfunction on a friend's PC after he installed a starforce protected game. As I know a lot of gamers you could think : Not such a big deal, 1 on 100(120..?).
Then I have to say that I had a hell of a time getting his hardware back on track.
More specific: his HP DVD RW, it needed a complete OS reinstall AND a DVD firmware flash.
So indeed 1/100 is just bad luck, but if it happens to you .... say SHIT.

I have good news for all fans on the Hero's series:
Celestial Heavens.com wrote:Ubisoft to Drop Starforce posted Wed, Apr 12 2006, 10:17 by Angelspit
A French community manager just announced that the copy protection Ubisoft will use for its upcoming games will not be Starforce. Also, his colleague Fabrice Cambounet confirmed on the official forum that Heroes V will not include Starforce. There is no information about what kind of copy protection will be used instead, but those news will be a huge relief for the fans of the Heroes series.

Got you all beat. I'm loking at the box for King's Bounty for the C64 on the shelf beside my computer. Made by New World Computing and it's what HOMM was before it was renamed HOMM.
