Yes, that will probably be the best way to get KQ7 working again.
sue wrote:.... download the cd again etc
No, it would amaze me that the BIN/CUE for KQ7 is faulty, dosbox would give an error message when mounting it.
Me guess that it's still ok, it's the installed folder that is screwed up somehow (don't ask me how, no idea, really not).

Simply delete the 'sierra' folder and reinstall the game, should be OK then.

And forget the 'bat' edit things, it's pretty obvious by now it ain't your thing.
Simply input the mount lines manually. Gives you typing exercise.

BTW, don't you know none around you that knows a bit more about such stuffs? In fact it's all pretty basic and simple(?) , those batch files........

But ....
But ....
But ...... they worked.
They did.
You've got them running at some point.

The principle in dosbox is always the same:
-> mount needed drives
-> make no typos
-> install if needed
-> run the game

Shame you give up.
Real shame.

Euuuurhhhhh ......
Where did you put them to begin with?
You are the one behind the keyboard pumpkin, not me....

Do you still have the King's quest 7 BIN/CUE files on your USB? if yes copy them in c:\users\owner\isos\ ... yes?
BTW, did you burn the CD with ImgBurner pointing to the CUE file as backup?

Euuuurhhhh ... did you try to read the KQ7 how to?
The KQ7dos.bat is created by the installer, so you need to install the game first on your virtual C in dosbox.
Capiche?

BTW, glad you're back, was kinda becoming a boring and silent place here.....
I need some action and real challenge to stay sharp, and that's what I get when you post...... LMAO.

[Edit]
Let me post the how to link again for KQ7:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12733
Forget the batch editing thing for now, simply try to install and run the game.

YAY Sue is back !!!!! :D

Ahem, I'm afraid I miss again some vital info ....
Could you post what's in your c:\users\owner\isos\ folder?
Or simply check for yourself, the KQ7 BIN/CUE should be in there .....

Once you got it installed, you don't install it again of course.
You know that, do you? Yes? Say yes. SAY YES, DAMNE*.

Now to play:
You imgmount your CD image as D: ,
and on your dosbox C: prompt you input:

cd sierra
kq7dos

Should get the game running without problems.

.... *SHOULD* ....

Did you mount your CD image?
If yes your game should run.

Wrong:
imgmount d "c:\users\owner\isos\kquest7.cue" -t iso
d:
cd sierra

Right:
imgmount d "c:\users\owner\isos\kquest7.cue" -t iso
cd sierra
kq7dos

Remark: no D: here, you stay on C: after mounting the CUE

[Edit]
AAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I begin to understand where you go wrong.
It's NOT the same as Fate of Atlantis.

Fate was runned from the CD, you had to run the game from D:, the game engine looked for it's files on C:\fate\ itself, you didn't had to run it from C:

And that's unusual, usually once a game is installed you run it from C:, not from D:
Keep that in mind pumpkin.

ok i this time i put
imgmount d "c:\users\owner\isos\kquest7.cue" -t iso
it comes up
mscdex installed
drive d is mounted as c:\users\owner\isos\kquest7.cue" -t iso
c:\
so i put cd sierra
c:\cd sierra\kq7dos
c:\sierra
and i get the same thing again
so how come it does what it wants to do
and not what you say
so how do you mount the cd then
i am getting very very very frustrated   :(

Do you get an error message?

[Edit]
And if you still don't get the game running, whilst in c:\sierra\ input dir/w and give me a screenshot please.
