Honour to my real dad Nguyen Binh Thuy.

Without him we wouldn't be here today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honour to my real mom Huong Thi Vu.

Without her I would have to do all the house stuffs myself especially cook.

Well, you know how I try hard to be humblest of them all.

I try my best to listen to my real dad Nguyen Binh Thuy

He loves me so much that he told me always be humblest of them all#!!

My mother real mom Huong Thi Vu also gave all she had to her three kids#!!

So I try hard to honour both my real parents with one exception!!!!!

The exception is I give my mother Huong Thi Vu the blessing!!!!!!!!!!!!

My real mom Huong Thi Vu could have been selfish and showed perfect.

Thank you God for giving me both my real parents; I have nothing left.

I just want a poll of sorts.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to see Marble Madness continue?

Could someone let me know what you think about this?

I don't want to make it if none likes it.

I personally like it being only 2 levels so far because it is a DEMO.

I think once it gets to 3 levels it becomes more of a complete game? hehe

I'm sorry, I didn't have the time to check out your updates recently.

I've just tried the latest version, and I'd say there's room for improvement with collision detection and overall smoothness of controls. I think the game speed drops if there are too many things happening at once on the screen.

Also you seem to have abandoned your speed calibration routine, as the speed here is again cycle-dependent.

Thank you for being a real friend at least over the internet.

I know you have a lot of projects you seem to work on.

I don't know you well enough to be a true friend.

However you are very kind with your words and that is a nice thing.

In a virtual world where words can make a person feel better, THANK YOU!

Jesus!hehe

Well, here is the next update.

This version has a calibration routine that MrFlibble wanted.

So if you have a speeds that are too fast or slow it should stabilize.

Although you set your DOSBox to 100000000000 cycles it should be perfect?

hehe

Although you try to trick the DEMO with low cycles it should also adjust.

Going under 3000 cycles will start to play the game DEMO in slow motion.

Oops. It would help if I tested it on fast mode. hehe

Thank you MrFlibble for the invaluable help.

Could you tell me if this one works?

Thanks again.

There are no speed issues now, thanks.

However there's some gameplay weirdness:

1. When I fire a projectile I cannot move the thing that I'm controlling until the projectile has travelled through the screen. I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour?

2. When the opponent is in some parts of the screen the projectile can travel straight through it without doing any damage, like this:
Image

However when the player is positioned just a bit lower it will hit the opponent:
Image Image

3. Also a couple of times I was able to hit the opponent with a projectile that did not collide with it, i.e. the opponent was positioned higher than the projectile's path.

Do you have a suggestion?

I'm sorry if the game is a little off.

I would certainly suggest that you draw inspiration from more games. So far your demo is functional (although it allows for more polish), but there's little gameplay variety.

If you haven't already, try out various DOS games and decide what you like. There's no sense making a game that you yourself would not enjoy playing. If you have found some gameplay style you like in another game(s), try making something similar without it being a straightforward clone. Or, combine elements from different games.

Here's a nice example I found recently, a little game called Day of Pigs (dop1_3.zip). In a sense, it's stripped down to bare essentials: there's no sound or music, there's no real plot, and the number of elements in this game is pretty limited. However, there's a very solid core gameplay concept, and the game is challenging and fun because of that.

Jesus!

This is just the spoiler part integrated into the game.

It is only one way that it could be integrated.

There are other creative ways.

However for simplicity sake it just shows the preview level 3 INTRO.

You see it when you finish level 2? hehe

I haven't tested it out so there might be a glitch.

Thank you all for being so patient.

Level 3 is finally completed today.

All that is needed is some playing time for the beta release of this DEMO.

If all goes well more levels may be added later.

However level 3 might not be passable right now.

So some fine tuning needs to be done.

I just wanted to see if anyone could pass level 3.

I don't know how far credits are for you, and you do get credits for passing.

Thank you!

I've just stumbled upon yet another awesome set of graphics by Daniel Cook:
http://www.lostgarden.com/2005/03/downl ... 8-bit.html

Maybe you could use them in your project instead of the proprietary Marble Madness sprites?

Thank you @MrFlibble!

Well, I don't want to use too many from Daniel Cook.

He is probably swamped with too many people using up his free art.

So I don't want to be making something other have produced.

If he did it just for me that is something else hehe

Anyways I am still grateful for the first image I took from him.

So thank you for that one even though Daniel Cook never intended for that.

However I hope Daniel Cook enjoys being listed in the credit screen.

Even though he currently is not used yet I hope he enjoys the lime light.

I had to plug him since I really needed a good background for the other one.
