Far from being a dosgame, but maybe some will be interested:
FarCry is released as free downloadable.
Seems the advertising will pay the bill.

I love that game. You'll need a pretty hefty computer to run it with half-decent graphics, settings though.

AMD64 athlon 3500+
1G Ram
Vidcard GeForce 128 MB
1024X768 graph settings: medium.
Stripped XP.(minimal apps running)
Runs excellent.

Must be able to run in 1024x768 in highest settings with a 256MB vidcard.

Now yeah, if you only have a 512 MB Ram, it will be 800x600 with minimum graph settings.

By now the file is available via several highspeed servers, but I don't think that ower beloved admins would appreciate a link other than the official one.

Besides Far Cry, Ubisoft also freewared (uhm?) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rayman: Raving Rabbids en Ghost Recon.

And Westwood made C&C gold freeware.

Download from gamershell (Fileplanet is a piece of shit.)

Euuurh, BTW:
Registering on fileplanet is FREE.
You will have access then on the so called 'public' low speed servers ( they still gives me a 150KBs speed, not bad at all, compared to HotU).
You must pay IF you want access to the 'high' speed servers, they go to approx 500KBs.

Aaaaaah the youth ......
Ro@m, you say you won't wait 30 minutes to download free and legally a game.
Some post before you said you would down it via torrents.

So 30 mins waiting is too much,
But a download that will take prob one full day via torrents -with the risk you get some nasty 'extras'- is allright.

30 mins waiting is too much,
to down a game that takes several days to finish playing it.(IF you don't cheat).

Aaaaaah the youth² ......
