Released last thursday (18 oct):
Ubuntu 7.10
http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisub ... topedition
If you have an 64b CPU architecture (I have, AMD Ahtlon64 ) be sure to get the 64 edition, beats XP completely. ( Don't, don't you even dare to mention Vista).
Just to let the interested ones know 'bout it.
BTW: if you have already Xp installed the install CD will perform a partition and install a bootloader so you still can get into your XP for gaming or such, no problems at all.
If you have Vista installed it will do the same for you, exept that the first time you will boot into Vista, Vista will have to perform a repair, that's normal but it will take some time.
That's because Vista uses a newer version of NTFS and file handling/storage than XP.
Yes, they are both NTFS but Vista has a renewed version of NTFS.......
You can shorten that repair time by first creating enough free space for Ubuntu via Vista -> maintenance tools -> storage -> blablabla.

Tried the live-CD boot Ro@m?
About that update, more respons than I thought it would have, so:
If you already have Ubuntu 7.04 installed get the alternate CD.
Simply check the box besides Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer. to get that CD.
Run Ubuntu, insert CD and there you go.
It gives you this:
Needs some 35 minutes to fully upgrade and down/install the Ubuntu extra upgrades.
Have applied it on one of the the dualboot HD with Vista, no problems.

Great...Now my Ubuntu "Fiesty Fawn" version is obsolete.
And is it just me or does Ubuntu 7 look exactly like Ubuntu 6?
