Defend the solar system

Post by legraf »

I'm trying to find a game - an ancient one I'm sure, where you fly around the solar system (ours, with Earth etc.), repelling some invading baddies. A few details I remember:

I believe, though wouldn't swear, your ship appearance was ripped off from the Enterprise from Star Trek. It's quite possible the entire game was an (unauthorized) steal of the Star Trek setting - I know this is hardly unique so far.

One feature I remember most distinctly: the asteroid Ceres was one of the places you could dock for repair or refueling - I remember using Ceres a great deal because its orbit was convenient in the context of this game. Certainly fuel, or perhaps the time taken to travel between different points of the solar system, was a major factor in determining your strategy in defending the system.

This game was not quadrant/sector based like EGA Trek or Galaxy Trek. One definitely worked with a solar system map, and Ceres was certainly not round or some ASCII symbol.

But the confession: although I'm sure the graphics were a cut above, say, the Trek-based games mentioned above, it's still possible this was on my C-64, not a DOS game at all. I don't think so, but thought I should put that out there.
