The game is from the mid-90s. I do not remember exactly. Platform is a PC.
I remember there were a lot of cartoon animations.
The game consisted of escaping from the sorcerer's castle (?), The main character is a young boy.
It passed from the screen to the screen, you could choose the direction of escape (left, right, straight). A bad choice ended in a trap.
I remember that the game was quite dark, it was a storm (?).
I can not remember exactly and I'm not sure until the end of this description, but I would like to remind myself of this game.
Similar to dragon's lair... but I think It wasn't it.
Escape cartoon PC game with choose direction + traps

Dragon's Lair Part II - Escape From Singe's Castle? I know you said you don't think that's it, but it fits your description.
Or maybe The Legend of Kyrandia? Although you don't escape from a castle in that one but there are traps.
Also check Return of the Phantom (1993) and The Castle of Dr. Brain. Unlikely, but better safe than sorry right?
Or maybe a Monkey Island game? More specifically, Chapter 3: LeChuck's Fortress from Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
