DOS Games Discussion

First, apologies about the obscure title, I’m terrible at guessing genres.
However, what I do know about this game is:
I played it on a DOS PC when I was around 6 years old, which is around 2008.
I couldn’t think of an exact genre, but I’ll describe what I could do in the game in a bit. It’s worth mentioning that the game was 3D, or, well, as 3D as it gets. That’s why it couldn’t have been released earlier than 1995.
I’m not sure it’s an exactly �popular� game, to be fair. It was among a bunch of flash games that my father had installed for me.

That aside, this game was about a few animals in a beach setting. I remember seeing shores, even places near ships, maybe even underwater settings but that one’s unlikely. What I remember doing is being able to customise the places the animals would be in, and even customise the animals themselves to a certain degree. I think things that could be customised in this game were stuff like decor and such. There were most certainly methods to buy new decor but I can’t remember what..

There were around 3-6 animal sprites at a time if my memory doesn’t fail me. And I remember vividly there was a pair of monkeys that were always there on the screen, one of them was a male, and the other was a female with a pink flower on her head. Can’t remember the rest of the animals unfortunately.
My native language isn’t English, and the game was in English, therefore I got unlucky in that aspect since I can’t remember a single word.

Well-written and thorough post. To narrow down the publishing year and get a better understanding of the genre, I have a few questions.

Do you remember anything about how it played? What were the play mechanics? Was there anything besides customizing the visual setting? Just clicking at the menu?

You mentioned you played it on a DOS PC, but also that the game was among some flash games. This doesn't sound right. Flash games were played on then-modern web browsers, whereas a DOS PC implies the machine was from a pre-2000 era (to me at least). So did the computer have a Windows installed? If it did, which one? Could your mention of a DOS PC be based on that running the game opened a black command prompt window?

Well, I’m certain there were more visual settings and more than menu-clicking, otherwise the game would’ve bored me to death
I can’t quite remember what they were, though.. I just remember having to do things, in order to unlock/earn other things. But even that may not be 100% accurate.

And I apologise, my wording might have been wrong and misleading; I’m not good at describing computer-y stuff in English..
Other than that, I most likely played it on a desktop computer with Windows 7, or an earlier build of Windows, most likely the latter.
I described it as a �flash� game, because I vividly remember it had the icon of the gray Adobe Flash player, and it didn’t require a command prompt window to run, for sure. Thank you!
