i can find it if i want but im afraid i cant help atm however i was wandering if when you make a map using the map editor provided with the gold edition, will the maps work with the original settlers II ie. not the gold edition?

Just in case calgar or anyone else is after this game it can be found here, as for your question franpa I would assume that it works but not having tried I can't be 100%.

the reason i asked tsm is that in the gold edition there is one limitation (even if you paid for the game) thats very annoying as you cant in skirmash/free play/ instant action (or whatever its called) build transport boats. (you can... but only in campaign mode)

but the map editor is only for the gold version i think not quite sure meself and well if it worked in the normal settlers 2 then that would be wicked.

calgar please check tsm's previouse post for the answer to your question.

is there an official addon for settlers 2 or is there only the gold edition?

I think you're likely to be able to only find the gold edition. But if you're lucky you may come across the original.

thanks its just weird that they release the gold edition but not an addon to the original game

What about the map editor wasn't that only released with the gold version?

yea it is to my knowledge its jus that it would be wicked if it also worked with the original settlers cause in the gold edition you get i think 350 approx. fan made maps on the cd but some cant be beaton in the gold version cause you cant build transport boats in skirmash / free play / instant action (or whatever its called) in the gold version. but you can in the normal version or i assume you can or else most of the fan made maps wont ever be beatable.

in answer to your question "i am pretty sure its only included in the gold version" but was wandering if anyonne has any maps made by it working in the original settlers?

Oh well I’ll take a look around and see if I can track down an original copy of the game instead of a gold version.

Already found Settlers 2 non gold edition, or at least I'm pretty sure it's not the gold version. I'm pretty sure the game is warez though so send me an email (Button is in my sig) and I'll send you the link.

hey tsm i know this is the wrong section but...

is there any way to adjust the screen refresh rate for dos games as sttlers II doesnt work due to it uses a refresh rate that my monitor doesnt support. also dos box crashes when i click a level to play so it will hafta be done outside of dosbox.

if theres nothing that can be done then... :( ill jus have to use me other pc to play

please note that i have winxp preincludes sp2, 1gig ram, 200gig sata II hdd, geforce 6600gt, p4 3.0ghz ht, asus p5ld2 standard m/b.

if your getting the same hardware then i would strongly reccomend a better video card.

What are the specs of your other PC? As for the refresh rate thing, I'm sure there is but I don't know of one. One of the other members can probably help you out with that.

As for graphics card I currently have an ATi Mobility Radeon 9000 (UMA), not that great but it does me fine. And don't worry when I get a new graphics card I plan to get a pretty decent one.

this is an old thread i know.

found a new way to get this game to work...

doesnt require an emulator to my knowledge. (unsure if what i use is an emulator) i use dos32a.exe and rename it to dos4gw.exe and copy it over the original dos4gw.exe...

i am pretty sure that this game runs fine in dosbox once the above has been followed..
