I've posted twice on Dosgames.com, but no one has replied. I'll try one last time.

I'm playing the great old game Gods by the Bitmap Brothers. I have no trouble walking over and collecting coins, crystals, gold, etc., but try as I might, I cannot pick up and use keys. How does one do that? Bear with me; I'm an oldster who enjoys the games.

I have decided to register, because I might be useful on this forum.

"I cannot pick up and use keys."
How to pick up a key:
Stand in front of it, press the down-arrow-key and press the space-bar. You see four squares at the bottom of the screen. Keep pressing the space-bar until another square is selected. Release the down-arrow-key. When you do so, the object in the selected square will be dropped, so if you want to pick up a key and do not want to drop anything, press "down" and then the space-bar until an empty square is selected. Then release "down".

How to use keys:
Sometimes you just have to walk somewhere to use a key, but most of the time you just have to pull a certain lever while you are carrying the right key.

Does this solve the problem?

And pick up vases and such. Things are looking up

Here are some hints for "Gods into the wonderful":

General hint:
Do not buy any of the weapon arcs. When you need one, it can be found.

The city: world 1:
- When you reach the three levers, pull the middle lever once, the left lever once and the
right lever once for a treasure chest.
- When you are at the lever near the treasure key: pull the lever once, take the
treasure key, pull the lever again for a shortcut.
The city: world 2:
- When you are carrying the ceramic pot, the trap door key and the room key, you
can see the teleport stone above you and two levers close to it. Drop the
ceramic pot and the keys, pull the right lever, pull the left lever, take the stone,
take the ceramic pot and take the stone. If the left lever is down and the right lever
is up, a trap will appear. Use the keys and take both pots to the stores for a
world key and a fire crystal. Take the crystal, the key and the ceramic vases and
leave the flasks alone.
The city: world 3:
- After taking the trap door key, go further to the left for crystals and a treasure key.
Go to the right and take the teleport key. Use the lever, fall, use the door, take the
world key, use the door and take everything.
The temple: world 1:
- Go to the right and press the secret button twice. Go to the left and take the
gold chest key. Go down and left until you have found the treasure chest you
cannot open yet. Go to the right until you can see a thief. If you can make him get
the shield for you, try this: use the switch at the right twice, go through the door
just before the second thief can jump into you. Take everything, go down and to
the right. Let the thief take the treasure key for you. When he is out of the traps, kill
him and take the key. Go through the door again. Take the chest key that
replaces the chest key you were carrying. Fall down, press the secret button and
jump to the left, let the thief get the health for you and kill him. Take the health and
open the treasure chest at the left.
- Take the three gems to the gem room for the world key. Another way to get the
world key is using the switch in the gem room three times to get a teleport stone.
It leads to a room with a magic potion for giant jumps. Take it and use a
teleport stone to return to the gem room. You only need one gem to get the
world key.
- If you have the treasure key, go to the treasure room before using the world key.
The temple: world 2
- Find the three chalices and take them to the ship room for the treasure key. When
you get the treasure key, drop the chalices in the ship room. The world key is
already at the ship room.
The temple: world 3:
- After getting the candle and the gold cross: go to the study while you are carrying
the candle and the gold cross. Leave with the gold cross, the door key and the
room key. Use the room key to enter the chapel. Take the magical gem and one
candle. Leave and take the treasure key. Put the candle back. Go to the
treasure room. Take everything. Use the door key to find the dragon. Drop the
magical gem and the dragon will fire at it, so stay away from the magical gem.
The labyrinth: world 1:
- Buy a small shield at the beginning of world 2.
The labyrinth: world 2:
- Buy a small shield at the beginning of world 2.
- When you are standing under the ice gem: pull the levers in this order: 3, 1, 2.
Take the shield and go to the right without the ice gem. When you are back at
the levers later, pull them in this order: 2, 1, 2, 2, 3.
The labyrinth: world 3:
- The guardian is a minotaur, because this is a labyrinth.
- After defeating the guardian, buy maces, fireballs and hunters.
The underworld: world 1:
- Buy maces, fireballs and hunters before you start.
The underworld: world 2:
- Nothing important.
The underworld: world 3:
- When you are at the three levers: pull them quickly in this order: 1, 1, 2, 3.
Take the trap door key and the mace. Pull lever 1. Fall down and use the
door. Get the world key and the axes. Then go to the guardian.
- Kill the guardian by killing the snake that comes out of his head.
- When you have completed the game, take the 10 lives (immortality).
