Soundblaster 16 ISA problem in Doom 2

I don't seem to be able to get any sound out of Doom 2 with my Sounblaster 16 ISA card. It works with just about any other game you can think of but not this one. In the Doom 2 setup it has detected my sound card as a SoundblasterAwe32 or somthing and when i try and change it and run the game there is still no sound. Then when i look back again at the setup it has it down as that SounblasterAwe32 still and it is stuck on it.

I tried changing settings in both Dos mode and Win95 but nothing seems to work.

1. Download a patch somewhere on 'net. (id's site)
2. Unzip it into empty directory.
3. Read text file(s) and follow it.
4. If there's no *.txt, read.me or *.doc move all files into Doom 2 directory and answer a+Enter.

Reinstall game. If that doesn't help, delete file in Doom directory and try again.
