Isn't the channel on Slashnet? And yes the IRC channel has been rather lonely with just me on there. And I would not recommend mIRC to anyone, it's a piece of crap, if I were you I'd go with KVIrc.

mIRC is very good, and i think it would be very nice to talk with each other in a chatt room. Good

Freenode is the new location of the channel.

I was talking to a staffer yesterday and 'she' yes SHE did help me a lot and we ended up getting emmzee to email them about a channel which has been already taken #dosgames that is but its not in use.

Slashnet was good but since when do people use it? Freenode is more common and its much more friendly. Besides I visit about 20 chans on it.

As for a time, DB And i agreed to a time after your school hours in the US.

I would say 11am AEST

Wally, me and JKSM were chatting on Slashnet the other day, meh regardless I usually leave my PC on, and I'm currently on both servers. And once again it is very lonely. As for time, just whenever, like I said I leave my PC on, if I don’t respond right away when you come on the IRC just be patient I will sooner or later, I might not be at my PC at the time. Hope to see some of you guys there soon.

No offence, but mIRC is a piece of crap. Considering how poorly its functionality is and the fact it's not free, there are far better programs to use.

Well mIRC...OKEY i haven't use it for a very long time. You probably right, there is for sure much better programs then mIRC, but it was good at the time.

Heh, I can remember back in the day, 2001 and 2002, when mIRC was the shit and had a pretty large following. It had pretty decent (basic) scripting options, allowed DCC transfers, etc, etc. Very easy to use, simple interface, could do everything you wanted with it really.

Probably the worst thing they ever did was go commercial. Why would you make an IRC client commercial? They added a bunch of useless crap, made their product HARDER to use, and then tried to sell it. Needless to say, I don't use mIRC much anymore.

Yes you're quite right back in the day mIRC was 'teh shiz na' but now it's become over complicated and just downright crap. Most people I know who use mIRC use very old versions of it.

Now as for the time difference thing, not really an issue for me, the main issue right now is which server are we going to go on? Slashnet or Freenode? We need to get details like that worked out first, though regarding the time thing... How about something like 12:00 GMT on a weekend or something?

Yeah its gunna reside on freenode.

Just a few things need to be cleared up.

Slashnet isnt that popular like Austnet (first IRC server)

Freenode has a great reputation and great server operators unlike Efnet.

Slashnet or Freenode - both are easy to use and have java applets if one does not have IRC software so they are fine.

It's fine for me and a good time for you as you wouldn't be falling asleep yet. :P

Wonder if anyone is around during the weekend as it's a good time for going out. ;)

It doesn't matter, I don't have a life anyway. :shame:

Was having trouble connecting to the channel, I doubt anyone was on anyway, I'll try again later.

So I’m thinking, why after all this is the IRC channel still devoid of life? I leave my client running most of the time and I never see anyone else besides me in there.

The DOS games community is not big enough. If there were even 500 active people, maybe it would have a hope.

How that is in any way relevant to the IRC channel is beyond me.

IRC channels need crowds to be successful.
