New Super Mario Brothers

The game, New Super Mario Brothers seems so cool if you look at the videos. It has the same 2D graphics and gameplay of the old Super Mario Brothers for Super Nintendo but at the same time it has more power-ups, new moves and more worlds. What attracts me most is the Mega mushroom to become a gaint Mario. :D The shrink to mini-mario and wearing the Koopa shell. It makes me feel like buying a Nintendo DS just to play this game. Has anyone else seen this game? What do you think of it?

(By the way, just for fun, when you move the cursor to the titles, it's like hitting brick to get coins. :D ;) )

I actually own the game but not a Nintendo DS yet :D I got the game (relatively) cheap at BestBuy but I'm waiting for the DS Lite to come out in 2 wks ... so I can look at the game cart but can't actually play yet lol, it does look good though I've seen a lot of positive reviews.

I can just imagine you admiring the box cover. :P I'm also waiting to buy the NDS Lite US / European version. There a shop that imported the Japanese version of NDS Lite. At the expensive price, I prefer to get an English version. It's not fun reading / guessing Japanese words if you can't read it. ;) The other thing is hope buying the "New Super Mario Brothers" cartidge with the NDS Lite English version would be cheaper. The US NDS Lite will be released in Jun so it won't be that long.

This "New Super Mario Brothers" seems like an exciting good improvement over something familiar. This slightly the same way I felt about Mario Vs Donkey Kong for GBA. I'm also waiting for Mario Vs Donkey Kong2: March of the Minis that is going to be released in Sep06.

Not that I know of. If you mean PC then definitely not as Nintendo doesn't have conversion or emulator released. If you mean demo version for NDS, there are some E3 stations or something in some countries for downloading demos.

Today, I bought the official Nintendo Player's Guide for New Super Mario Brothers :) I bought it from a computer games shop but it cost almost twice of what could be paid by buying online. I'm enjoying reading the maps and strategies. :D Still waiting for a good deal to buy the NDS and this game.

If anyone needs help with the game and can't find the hint at websites, feel free to ask. :) Would be glad to help and I'm going to make full use of my guide. ;)

I finally tried this game when I picked up my DS Lite last Sunday. Its pretty cool so far. 'course I'm sharing it with my brother which means I've hardly played it so far. :P But he has to go to work 2mo and I'm working from home for the summer so I get to play 2mo finally lol :D

That's great, you finally get to play your game. :)

Guess what, I bought my NDS lite today. Got the english version of NDS Lite and also got the discount for it. :D At the same time, I bought the carrying case, protector screen & best of all the New Super Mario Brothers game. The person selling it said that with the game, you won't be able to stop as you would be playing non-stop. The sleep portion is half true. It's 2:30 am now and I'm still awake. I just finished the whole of World 1. Actually, I was concerned about losing the save. At least after World 1, the game prompted me whether I wanted to save. Finally I can stop playing. :P I don't regret buying the game. In fact, I'm more than satisfied. I started by playing all the mini-games and some of them were really fun. They all use the touch screen except for one mini-game that required one to blow through the microphone. Wonder how people don't get out-of-breath with all that blowing. :D

Super Mario Brothers doesn't use touch screen in the game except for the menu selection and reserve item use. The feature I love using most is the reserve item. Too bad can't reserve more than 1 item. When you get the fire flower, if you collect another one it goes into your reserve item. When you get kill, the reserve item stays with you. After continuing the game, use the reserve item fire flower, then you can collect another fire flower as reserve item. Otherwise, you'll only end up with a mushroom to make you slightly bigger.

I love the game, it's really addictive. Most of all I love my NDS. Nice voice sound and music. The NDS cartridge box is something like a DVD box so cool. Can't wait for them to make it have PDA functions and also make it internet accessible. Right now, I don't have someone in close proximity to play NDS multi-player games. With internet for NDS, that might be a better possibility.

At least New Super Mario Brothers game gives me a chance to test out all the NDS features - microphone, touch screen and game buttons.

If you mean emulation, then no, ive already tried. I mean, emulation is bad. BAD.

Emulation is not bad.

Especially when it gives consoles that arent meant to play the game a chance (example N64 on PSP)

In case anyone wants to read About New Super Mario reviews, here's one.

Here is a sample of the official Nintendo Player's Guide for New Super Mario Brothers in case anyone is interested.

Wonder if anyone bothers to watch the introduction where Princess Peach gets kidnap and Mario chases. If you wait to watch the introduction a second time and subsequently, you will see Luigi chases Mario - quite interesting. ;) I discovered that when I feel in the mood of watching introductions. :P

Tip from the Player's guide:
Play as Luigi
After watching the ending, save your game at the prompt. Look carefully at the wallpaper behind "The End" on the lower screen-you'll see the secret code to play as Luigi. To play as Luigi, select your saved game, hold down the L and R Buttons, and press A to confirm your selection.
My favourite mini games are 'Whack-a-Monty', 'Wanted!' and 'Sort or Splode'. What are your favourites?

18 Single Player Mini Games:
-Snowball Slalom
-Lakitu Launch
-Danger Bob-omb! Danger!
-Whack-a-Monty
-Balloon Racing
-Wanted!
-Which Wiggler!
-Hide and Boo Seek
-Puzzle Panel
-Concentration
-Picture Poker
-Pair-a-Gone
-Memory Match
-Mario's Slides
-Sort or 'Splode
-Bounce and Trounce
-Bob-omb Squad
-Trampoline Time

26 Vs Battle Mini Games:
-Snowball Slalom
-Vs Lakitu Launch
-Run Bob-omb! Run!
-Whack-a-Monty
-Balloon Racing
-Wanted!
-Snowball Slam
-Which Wiggler!
-Hide and Boo Seek
-Puzzle Panel
-Concentration
-Love Me...
-Speed
-Picture Poker
-Bob-omb Reverse
-Memory Match
-Luigi's Trilling Cards
-Luigi-Jack
-Vs Mario's Slides
-Bo-omb Sudden Death
-Jumping Brothers
-Lakitu Launch
-Jumping Sudden Death
-Vs Trampoline Time
-Bob-omb Trampoline
-Vs Pair-a-Gone

Too bad, I cannot get the chance to play the Vs Battle minigames. Otherwise, I'll double my enjoyment. :) Some of the mini-games are only available in battle mode and not single player mode. For most mini-games, the kind for single player are also available in Vs Battle mode. It should be extra enjoyment also to play Mario Vs Luigi mode for the New Super Mario Brothers.

Can't find a demo for you to try, the best that I can find you is New Super Mario Brothers 1-UP Hunt to play through the internet.
