Bowser's Castle is a one or two-player action puzzle game which includes sprites from Super Mario Bros and other NES games, but the gameplay is unlike any Mario game. The object is to collect the star to complete the level. You'll need to collect power-ups and defeat/avoid monsters to get there. There is a decent variety of stuff to do in the levels and the optional two-player mode is neat, however for many of the levels having separate paths for each player (which are present even while playing single-player) makes the levels fairly simple. But overall it works well and provides both action and puzzle elements over a large number of levels. The game was created in QBasic but the source code is not available.
