Chosen by Computer Gaming World as part of their 'Hall of Fame' ("DOOM revolutionized PC action games"), and at (or near) the top of many "best of" game lists, DOOM is one of the most played computer games of all time. And for good reason! I admit, it scared the hell outta me when I first played it. Even today, with increasingly sophisticated 3D action games DOOM's gameplay is classic. Get it now, even if you've already played it ... it's still fun. But just in case you've never played it before (play it now!) this game was revolutionary because of both its technical prowess and its amazing game design by a team of supremely talented developers at id Software. You play as a space marine who needs to shoot up a bunch of demons and stuff. (Not the "official" storyline but pretty much all you need to know.) The game has an amazing "feel" that leads to people still playing it enthusiastically even today. It helped that a huge modding community started making new maps for it, and even total conversions. The game just celebrated its 25th birthday as of December 2018!
