PACMAN is not noteworthy for the game itself; although it's premise is unique, it's not particularly well done or fun to play more than perhaps once. However it's the game's pedigree that makes it worth noting. It was coded by Alan and Ken Silverman when they were 11 and 9 respectively, and is thus the earliest preserved game connected to Ken Silverman who later went on to create Ken's Labyrinth and the Build engine used by Duke Nukem 3D and many other games. See this article on Ken's website for more info about the history of the game. As for the game itself, it's like a strategic version of Pac-Man where you must collect all of the dots while saving your monster-eating power to only eat monsters necessary to complete the maze. Source code in BASIC of some sort is included.
