The Zero Hour seems to take inspiration from the popular 80's arcade game Star Wars. It's a first-person perspective shooting game where you must shoot down the enemy ship's shots (stars) and the ships themselves while flying through different locations. The visuals have a vector-graphics style to them and the game plays decently although movement of the crosshairs with the arrow keys is a bit clunky. Mouse control would work much better but I guess PC mice weren't too popular yet in 1988. Overall it's an interesting game but not very deep or fun to play. (There is a separate executable included, ZEROJ.EXE, if you want to try playing using a joystick.)
Instructions:
Use the numeric keypad keys to move the crosshairs. (Make sure NUM LOCK is on.) Spacebar fires. Other controls are listed in-game.
